General Play

The basics of how a match works. All nine holes of the front nine, every week, rain or shine.

01
Tees: Blue tees. Players 60 and older play white tees.
02
Winter rules at all times — you can fluff the ball, but you may not improve your lie by moving the ball from rough to fairway. Bunkers are at teams'/opponents' discretion.
03
Gimmies are allowed at the discretion of the teams/opponents each week. Suggestion: putts inside 2.5 feet are good. Outside of that, putt it.
04
Max score per hole: double par. Example — on a par 4, you can't score more than an 8. You must pick up your ball once double par is achieved.
05
If a player picks up for double par, their score won't count toward match play for that hole.
06
Lost ball: drop another ball in the approximate position (90 degrees) where the lost ball went in. A 1-stroke penalty will be assessed for the lost ball.
07
No more than 2 minutes to look for a lost ball.
08
Submit your scorecard when your round is complete: leave the official card with Kristen at the bar, give it to Pac/Jack, or text a photo to (616) 835-5500

Scoring

10 points available per match. Here's how they break down.

01
Match play: 1 point per hole, 9 total. Low individual net score per hole gets 1 point for their team. A tie is worth 0.5 points.
02
Additional 1 point is awarded to the team with the lowest overall gross combined score. A tie is worth 0.5 points.
03
Example: Team 1 players shoot 41 and 44 (total 85). Team 2 players shoot 40 and 43 (total 83). Team 2 wins the additional point.

Substitutes

Life happens. Here's how subs work.

01
No sub fees. Teams/players are responsible for finding their own subs and providing Pac/Jack and the team they're playing the sub's handicap.
02
A list of approved sub options is available through admins. Request access →
03
Team no-shows (with sub): Auto 5.5 points for the team that shows and completes 9 holes.
04
Teams that no-show and are unable to find at least one sub will be docked -2.5 POINTS.

Handicaps

01
Your 5 most recent scores will be used to determine your league handicap. Starting handicaps carry over from 2025 league if applicable.
02
If teams are tied after the regular season ends, the playoff tiebreaker hierarchy is:

1. Head-to-head winner of most recent match
2. Lowest overall team score from previous 3 weeks
3. Coin toss
